Renowned singer Sonu Nigam’s performance at Delhi Technological University’s (DTU) Engifest 2025 took an unfortunate turn when some attendees hurled stones and bottles at the stage. Despite the chaos, Nigam remained composed, urging the crowd to maintain decorum.
“I’m here so we can all have a good time. I’m not asking you to stop enjoying, but please don’t do this,” he pleaded, attempting to restore order.
The situation escalated as members of Nigam’s team reportedly sustained injuries. With over one lakh attendees, the incident raised concerns about crowd management at large-scale university festivals.
Many students later expressed disappointment over the behavior of a few individuals. A student from Delhi University’s Daulat Ram College said, “It was shameful that a legend like him had to pause and request the audience to behave.”
Amid the tension, a lighter moment unfolded when a fan tossed a pink hairband onto the stage. Nigam playfully wore it, saying, “I will take this home,” as the crowd affectionately called him “Pookie.”
The incident underscores the need for responsible audience behavior to ensure artists can perform without fear of disruption or harm.
