Coke Studio Bharat has unveiled 'Hoor', the fourth release from Season 4, continuing its mission of bringing India's rich folk and regional musical traditions to contemporary audiences. This time, the platform journeys to the valleys of Kashmir, presenting a folk tale inspired by the region's centuries-old oral storytelling tradition.
Drawing from Kashmiri folklore and the spiritual essence of Afsana Gori, Hoor follows the story of Sheikh and Hoor, weaving themes of love, longing and devotion through melody and narration. Rooted in the tradition of intimate mehfils, where musicians narrated tales of kings, lovers, wanderers and mystics, the song blends layered vocals, evocative instrumentation and a contemporary rock soundscape while preserving the emotional depth of the original narrative.
The track features singer-songwriter Faheem Abdullah, alongside composers and singers Arsalan Nizami and Ustad Qaiser Nizami. Inspired by Kashmir's musical storytelling heritage, Hoor moves seamlessly between narration and melody, culminating in a Kashmiri passage that anchors the composition in its cultural roots.
With every season, Coke Studio Bharat has spotlighted India's diverse regional music traditions by collaborating with artists who reinterpret cultural narratives for modern listeners while retaining their authenticity. Hoor continues this vision by introducing a timeless Kashmiri folk tale to audiences across generations and geographies.
Speaking about the release, Shantanu Gangane, IMX (Integrated Marketing Experience) Lead, Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia, said, "At Coke Studio Bharat, we believe India's most powerful stories emerge from its regions, shaped by culture, memory and lived experience. Kashmir's storytelling tradition carries its own emotional and poetic legacy. With Hoor, we wanted to honour this authenticity while presenting it in a contemporary format. Faheem, Arsalan and Qaiser bring remarkable depth to the narrative, allowing the story to travel beyond geography without losing its essence."
Reflecting on the collaboration, Faheem Abdullah said the storytelling at the heart of Hoor was what drew him to the project. He noted that the song stems from a tradition that has been passed down through generations in Kashmir, and that Coke Studio Bharat provided an opportunity to introduce it to a wider audience while preserving its original spirit.
Arsalan Nizami added that Kashmiri folk music's seamless movement between narration and melody is unlike any other tradition, and said the collaboration allowed the artists to explore those nuances while offering their own contemporary musical interpretation.
Meanwhile, Ustad Qaiser Nizami described Hoor as a song that captures the intimacy of a traditional Kashmiri mehfil, praising Coke Studio Bharat for preserving that emotional atmosphere rather than allowing it to be overshadowed by large-scale production.
With Hoor, Season 4 expands Coke Studio Bharat's growing catalogue of regional music after Ae Ajnabee, Bulleya Ve, and Kachaudi Gali, adding another distinctive voice from India's diverse cultural landscape.
