In Conversation with Jassie Gill

Jassie Gill is a singer turned actor of Punjabi origin and has many hit Punjabi music tracks to his name - Lancer, Gabroo, Dil Tutda, Laden to name a few. After a commendable stint in the Punjabi film industry with movies like Mr & Mrs. 420, Sargi and Happy Bhaag Jayegi Returns, the artist continues surprising his fans with work both in film and music, and we had the privilege to interview him for Loudest.in
  • How did your music journey begin?
Jassie: I started my music journey back in 2011 and I am very happy the way I have worked in the industry and grown through these years. When I started this journey, I never thought anyone knew me outside my hometown. Today, when I have come so far, it makes me feel very happy and proud about my journey so far. I am very thankful to my parents, my grandfather and to all my well-wishers’, they have made me what I am today. I am hoping to continue the momentum on by giving my best work to the industry in the future.
  • What are some of the mistakes you have made along your journey, and what have you learned from them?
Jassie: Everyone makes mistakes in their lives. When you are working on a particular project, it’s not necessary that it will always come out to be perfect or flawless. We tend to make mistakes and learn from it, but what is more important than making mistakes is giving your best shot. I have made a lot of mistakes along my journey, but I feel I am here today is only because of my hard work and dedication towards my work.
  • What do you think is the one thing missing in our Music Industry?
Jassie: There is nothing missing in our music industry especially the Punjabi music industry; it’s growing rapidly. There is no party which is ever complete without Punjabi songs and there is no movie which does not have any Punjabi song or a remake of any Punjabi song. The Punjabi music industry has a great future because it has been doing a great job so far and really does not lack anything.
  • How do you feel about performing at Phoenix today and do you think it's a smart way to connect with fans?
Jassie: I keep coming to Bombay all the time, but there is a different feeling altogether in performing in a place like Dublin Square, Phoenix Marketcity, Kurla which has a lovely crowd. It feels really great when you receive positive messages from your fans during such concerts as it happens once in 2-3 months. It’s a really great feeling when your fans especially come to attend your concert and this would not have been possible without Bollyboom.
  1.   What can we expect from you in the future?
Jassie: I have always tried my best to do good work in the industry since the past 6-7 years and will be giving my best in the future.
