Sunburn Festival 2026 Announces Landmark Move To Mahalaxmi Racecourse In Mumbai

India’s premier electronic dance music festival, Sunburn Festival, is set to return for its 19th edition on December 18 and 19, 2026, with a new venue and a reimagined format aimed at delivering a more immersive fan experience.

The festival will move to Mumbai’s iconic Mahalaxmi Racecourse, marking a significant evolution for the long-running music property. Organisers said the centrally located venue, known for hosting large-scale live entertainment events, offers improved accessibility and enhanced infrastructure for audiences travelling from across the city and beyond.

Over the years, the venue has hosted several landmark performances associated with the festival, including early India appearances by Avicii in 2011, Swedish House Mafia in 2013, Martin Garrix in 2016 and Keinemusik earlier this year.

In a departure from previous editions, Sunburn Festival 2026 will adopt a condensed two-day format focused on high-energy programming and seamless audience flow. The celebrations will conclude with a large-scale closing party at the NSCI Dome on December 20, extending the festival experience beyond the main event.

Ticket registrations for the festival are now open on BookMyShow. Exclusive pre-sale tickets for RuPay Credit Card holders will be available from May 14, 2026, at 12 PM, followed by access for registered users on May 16, 2026. General ticket sales will begin on May 18, 2026, at 12 PM.

According to insights shared by the organisers from a survey conducted among attendees of Sunburn Festival 2025, nearly 81% of respondents cited the festival’s atmosphere, visual production and stage design as major attractions. The survey also revealed that close to 50% of attendees travelled from outside Mumbai, while over 56% attended the festival with friends, underlining its growing identity as a collective cultural experience.

Speaking on the announcement, Karan Singh said the festival has consistently evolved with its audience at the centre of its vision.

“Sunburn Festival has always been built with the audience at its core, evolving each year into a defining cultural tradition for India’s music community. As we enter our 19th edition, every decision ,from moving to a venue like Mahalaxmi Racecourse to reimagining the festival format, has been made with a clear focus on enhancing how fans experience the festival,” Singh said.

The 2026 edition will also introduce a new thematic direction titled “Awaken the Core”, reflecting what organisers describe as a shift towards deeper, more immersive live experiences. The theme aims to move beyond spectacle and focus on intensity, connection and collective energy.

Launched in 2007, Sunburn Festival has grown from an electronic music event into one of India’s most recognised youth and entertainment festivals, drawing audiences from across the country. Organisers say Mumbai has played a key role in expanding the festival’s reach, bringing together both long-time attendees and first-time festivalgoers.

The organisers have also hinted at a “stellar line-up” and multiple immersive experiences for the upcoming edition, although artist names are yet to be announced.
