‘Green Room Project’ Launches In Kohima To Support Emerging Music Talent

A new live music initiative focused on nurturing emerging talent is set to debut in Nagaland this weekend, as “The Green Room Project” prepares to host its first edition on May 24 at Ridge Eco Park in Kohima.

Conceived as a collaborative platform for musicians, the project aims to bring together upcoming artists and experienced performers while contributing to the growth of the region’s independent music ecosystem. Organisers say the initiative is designed to create opportunities for artists to perform, connect with audiences and develop their craft through community-driven engagement.

According to a press release issued by the organisers, “The Green Room Project” will place a special emphasis on supporting young solo artists and bands who are looking to take their music beyond local circles. Through live showcases, mentorship opportunities and collaborative interactions, the platform seeks to help artists strengthen their creative identity and expand their reach.

The debut edition will feature a mix of emerging and established acts from Nagaland’s thriving music scene. Kohima-based band Flying Arcades will make their live debut at the event, marking a major milestone for the group. They will be joined by Dimapur outfit Pink Eye, while Divine Connection has been announced as the headlining act for the evening.

The organisers said the event is intended to celebrate not only live music but also the spirit of collaboration and artistic exchange within the local creative community. By combining performances from new and recognised acts on a shared stage, the initiative hopes to encourage greater visibility for grassroots talent while strengthening the region’s cultural landscape.

Nagaland has long been recognised for its vibrant music culture, with local artists increasingly gaining attention across independent and alternative music circuits in India. Platforms such as “The Green Room Project” are expected to play an important role in providing consistent performance spaces and audience exposure for emerging musicians from the Northeast.

The event will begin at 5 pm onwards at Ridge Eco Park, one of Kohima’s popular outdoor venues known for hosting cultural and community gatherings. Tickets for the event are currently available online through OnCue.in as well as at the venue.

General entry tickets have been priced at Rs. 500, while students can avail discounted tickets at Rs. 300 upon presenting a valid student identity card.

With its focus on artist development, community building and live music culture, “The Green Room Project” hopes to establish itself as a recurring platform for independent musicians in the region. Organisers believe the initiative can help bridge the gap between emerging talent and wider audiences, while also encouraging collaboration across different musical styles and experiences.

The inaugural edition is expected to draw music enthusiasts, students and supporters of the independent music movement from across Kohima and nearby regions.
