Jio Music to rebrand iteslf as "JioSaavn" after the 1 Billion USD merger earlier this year

Jio Music rebrands itself as "JioSaavn"

Earlier this year, two leading streaming services in India - Saavn and Jio joined hands in a deal worth 1 billion USD. Now the Teleco company has decided to re brand itself and from now on Jio Music will be called as  - JioSaavn, the largest streaming service in India. The re branding will come into effect as soon as possible with some Jio users getting a free 90 day subscription once they log into Saavn. If you are a Jio user, here is how you can check for a free 90 day subscription: Download the Saavn application from Google Play Store or Apple App Store and register with your Jio mobile number. After registering, check whether you’ve received 90 days of Saavn Pro subscription. Currently both Jio Music and Saavn have their individaul apps on Playstore and Apple's App store. There is speculation going on that Saavn will pull down its app once JioSaavn re branding is into full effect. At the moment, Saavn is offering services to both standard and Pro customers. With Saavn Pro, users can download an unlimited number of songs, while standard will just be able to stream songs on the application.

The Jio-Saavn 1 Billion USD Deal

For those who are not aware of the Jio-Saavn deal - RIL (Reliance Industries Limited) will  invest up to USD 100 million, out of whichUSD 20 million will be invested upfront for growth and expansion of the platform. The three co-founders of Saavn- Rishi Malhotra, Paramdeep Singh and Vinodh Bhat, will continue in their leadership roles and will drive the growth of the combined entity as confirmed by RIL. Reliance Jio is one of the biggest Telecom services in India, with over 250 Million active data users. It was reported that JioMusic was the fastest growing streaming platform in India for 80 consecutive weeks, with over 16 Million songs in over 20 regional languages. Saavn on the other hand is the leading streaming service in India, with the biggest database of songs and content. The combined entity of JioSaavn will be massive and is on course to become the go to service for listeners around the world in years to come.
