Facebook's Makes It's First Move - Lip Sync Live
Facebook which houses more than 2bn monthly active users, has announced that its users can now legally upload and share User Generated Content videos which feature licensed music in selected markets. Along with that Facebook users will also be able to lip-sync live their favorite tunes as they unveiled its first personalized features as part of licensing deals with music labels. With the new lip-sync function, Facebook users will be able to select favorite songs to share on their live streams and their friends can tune in while they sing/dance.
From weddings and holidays to everyday celebrations, the special moments in life are often ones we associate with music. Together with the music industry, we are working to enable people around the world to include music in their videos on Facebook, opening up more options for creativity and sharing memories with friends and family. - Tamara Hrivnak, Head of Music Business Development & Partnerships, Facebook
Users can post descriptions of their lip-sync performances and will also reveal information about the song and the artist and allow users/viewers to follow the musician as well. The feature looks set to be a competitor to Musical.ly, the karaoke-inspired app that originated in China. The new features come several months after the company sealed licensing agreements with the three major music label conglomerates - likes of Universal Music Group, Sony/ATV, Kobalt, SESAC/Rumblefish, Warner Music Group and more. Despite reaching two billion people, Facebook has been relatively inactive on music compared to Apple or Google who invest heavily in the streaming sector. While music including do-it-yourself videos is present everywhere on Facebook, the company regularly takes down embedded content that is copyrighted. Thankfully the licensing agreements will help Facebook users upload content without having to worry about it being taken down. Music Inc. is a conference that aimed at finding solutions on how to improve the packaging of music as a product by aligning it to media, advertising, brands, and technology. The conference is a push towards a collaborative effort for creating innovative music experiences.    Click here to know more and register for early bird tickets: http://loudest.in/music-inc-blog/
