Producer Firoz Nadiadwala has confirmed that Welcome 4, the next instalment in the popular comedy franchise, is currently in development, with the script nearing completion.
The upcoming film is set to reunite fan-favourite characters portrayed by Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, and Paresh Rawal. Building on the legacy of the series, the new instalment is being envisioned on a significantly larger scale, with plans to introduce multiple antagonists into the storyline.
Sharing an update on the project, Nadiadwala revealed that the film’s music and action are being designed to be expansive, incorporating global influences. The soundtrack is expected to bring together artists and styles from regions including the Middle East, Africa, the United States, and China, signalling a more international sonic approach.
The narrative will blend returning characters such as Uday Shetty, Majnu Bhai, and Dr. Ghungroo with new additions, particularly in the form of multiple “dons,” adding a fresh dynamic to the franchise’s signature comedy. The script is being developed with the ensemble cast in mind, ensuring that each character retains their distinct appeal while fitting into a new storyline.
Sources indicate that the writing process has been underway for some time, with the creative team focused on crafting a narrative that balances nostalgia with novelty. The film is expected to continue the franchise’s mix of humour, glamour, and action, while expanding its universe with new characters and conflicts.
Since its debut in 2007 under director Anees Bazmee, the Welcome series has gained a cult following, largely driven by the comic chemistry between its lead characters. With Welcome 4, the makers aim to build on that legacy while elevating the scale and storytelling for a new generation of audiences.
