Partition Oral History Project Receives PM Modi’s Praise On ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Radio Broadcasts

During his recent visit to Guyana, where he observed a vibrant "mini India" thriving abroad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday encouraged people to share stories of Indian immigrants who have made significant contributions globally while preserving Indian heritage.

In the 116th episode of his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio address, the PM urged citizens to submit these stories via the NaMo app or MyGov platform, using the hashtag #IndianDiasporaStories.

“Thousands of kilometers from India, a ‘mini India’ exists in Guyana. Around 180 years ago, Indians were taken there to work in fields and other sectors. Today, the Indian-origin community in Guyana is excelling in politics, business, education, and culture. The President of Guyana, Dr. Irfaan Ali, is also of Indian origin and takes pride in his heritage,” he said.

The PM also highlighted India’s Oral History Project, an initiative to document the experiences of Partition survivors. “With few witnesses of the Partition era remaining, this effort has gained immense significance,” he noted.
