Virgin Music Group And Millennium Audios Announce Global Distribution Partnership

Virgin Music Group has entered into a global distribution partnership with Millennium Audios, aiming to expand the international reach of South Indian artists and regional music.

The collaboration brings together Millennium Audios’ 25+ years of expertise across genres including ghazals, folk, Mappila songs, devotional music, and Malayalam film tracks, with Virgin Music Group’s capabilities in global distribution, digital marketing, and audience engagement. The partnership is designed to unlock new opportunities for artists while connecting regional Indian music with global audiences.

Known for preserving and promoting Kerala’s musical heritage, Millennium Audios has played a key role in spotlighting both traditional and contemporary talent. Virgin Music Group, meanwhile, has built a strong track record of supporting independent artists and labels worldwide in scaling their reach and building global fanbases.

The move comes amid rapid growth in India’s digital music ecosystem. Paid music subscriptions reached 14 million in 2025, reflecting a 37% year-on-year increase, while social media platforms saw 20% growth, driven in part by the rise of short-form video consumption.

Saji Millennium, CEO of Millennium Audios, called the partnership a “natural next step,” adding that Virgin Music Group’s global infrastructure will help take Kerala’s music to new audiences worldwide.

Lavanya Dass, Label and Business Development Manager at Virgin Music Group, highlighted the label’s rich catalogue featuring iconic artists such as S. Janaki, K. S. Chithra, K. J. Yesudas, Gopi Sundar, Ilaiyaraaja, and Kailas Menon. She noted that the partnership combines a diverse repertoire of Indian music with Virgin’s global distribution strength.

With this alliance, both companies are looking to strengthen India’s position in the global music landscape by amplifying regional voices and creating new pathways for discovery and growth.
