Taylor Swift Praises AR Rahman: "His Music Touches The Soul"

Global music icon AR Rahman isn’t just adored in India—his melodies resonate worldwide. Among his many admirers is pop sensation Taylor Swift, who once praised the ‘Jai Ho’ composer for his soul-stirring music.

In a 2014 interview with Hindustan Times, Swift expressed her admiration for Rahman, calling him a "fantastic musician" whose music "touches the soul." She also shared her excitement about Bollywood, highlighting its vibrant blend of music and dance. "Indian cinema has a lot of music and dance, which excites me. I think Indians share a big passion for song and dance in movies, which I love. It is a great way of connecting with the audience," she said.

While she wasn’t certain about acting in Bollywood due to the language barrier, Swift was open to lending her voice to an Indian film. "I am not sure about acting since I don’t speak Hindi. But I would love to sing for a Bollywood movie," she added.

Beyond music and cinema, Swift has a deep curiosity about India’s culture and history. She expressed a desire to visit iconic landmarks like the Taj Mahal and explore regions such as Kashmir, Delhi, and South India. "I like historic monuments. They depict so much about a particular culture," she remarked. Though she hadn’t tried Indian cuisine at the time, she was eager to experience its flavors, saying, "I have heard it is very spicy but tasty."

With admiration for Rahman and an interest in Indian culture, Taylor Swift’s connection to India goes beyond just music—it’s a love for its rich heritage and artistic expression.
