Renowned bhakti artist Radhika Das, known for bringing the essence of ancient mantra traditions to modern audiences, has released a new single titled ‘Sita Rama Jaya’ from his upcoming EP. Released under the Mantra Roots label, the track reimagines traditional devotional practice through a contemporary musical lens, offering listeners a soulful chant that centres on eternal devotion and inner peace.
Rooted in the divine names of Sita and Rama, Sita Rama Jaya creates a bridge between the immortal and the everyday, harmonising mind and heart through sound. Departing from conventional bhajan recordings, the song features an addictive guitar riff, an infectious groove and captivating vocals, giving the chant a fresh, energising quality while retaining its reflective spiritual core.
The track has been produced by Seattle-based, Grammy-nominated producer and engineer Ryan Hadlock, whose dynamic production brings a sense of vitality and movement to the mantra. The result is a reminder that devotion can be joyful, expressive and full of life, without losing its spiritual depth.
Extending the song’s message beyond sound, the cover artwork pays homage to Ram Setu, a pivotal moment in the Ramayana. The imagery evokes themes of victory and light, symbolising Radhika Das’ larger artistic purpose,to create music that acts as a bridge between the ancient and the modern, and between the individual and the divine.
Speaking about the release, Radhika Das shared, “Sita Rama Jaya is a chant of the divine names Sita and Rama, who epitomise divine love, compassion, harmony and loving devotion. With this song, I aimed to create a space where people hear sacred sounds and feel connected to something deeper. While doing so, I also wanted people to dance along to its electric rhythm.”
He added, “My hope is that when people hear it, even if they’ve never heard a mantra or kirtan before, they just feel uplifted, a sense of joy and a little more open-hearted.”
The upcoming EP reflects Radhika Das’ intention to adapt traditional kirtan formats for contemporary lifestyles. By refining longer, immersive practices into more concise and intentional compositions, he aims to honour the depth and regional richness of kirtan while making it accessible for modern listeners to carry these mantras through their daily lives. Sita Rama Jaya stands as a clear reflection of this vision, contemplative, rooted in tradition, yet unshackled by it.
