Preeti Nayyar Joins Billboard India As Chief Operating Officer

Billboard India has appointed Preeti Nayyar as its Chief Operating Officer (COO), strengthening its leadership team as the music media brand looks to expand its presence in one of the world's fastest-growing music markets.

Launched in partnership with Other Side Ventures Pvt. Ltd., Billboard India said Nayyar will lead the company's operational growth and business expansion efforts. In her new role, she will oversee business operations, P&L management, revenue growth, strategic partnerships and industry relations.

A media and entertainment executive with more than 25 years of experience, Nayyar has held leadership positions across print, radio, television, film marketing and the music industry. Over the course of her career, she has worked with organisations including Universal Music Group, The Walt Disney Company, Radio Mirchi and India Today Group.

Most recently, Nayyar spent nearly nine years at Universal Music Group, where she built and scaled UMG For Brands, the company's culture and music marketing division, across India and Asia. During her tenure, she worked on partnerships connecting artists, music, culture and brands.

Her appointment comes shortly after Billboard India's launch, which aims to celebrate and document the diversity of Indian music across languages, genres and regions. The platform plans to engage audiences through editorial content, charts, rankings, awards, live experiences and industry-led initiatives while helping Indian artists gain greater global visibility.

Commenting on the appointment, Priyanka Khimani said Nayyar's experience across media, brand partnerships and business operations made her the ideal choice to help drive Billboard India's vision and growth ambitions.

Speaking about her new role, Nayyar said India's music industry is experiencing a period of significant transformation, with artists, audiences and businesses contributing to an increasingly influential ecosystem. She added that building Billboard's India chapter at this stage of the industry's evolution presents a unique opportunity to create a platform that celebrates music culture, facilitates meaningful industry conversations and delivers value to artists, fans and brands.

With Nayyar at the helm of operations, Billboard India aims to further strengthen its position as a leading platform for music culture and industry engagement while expanding its footprint across the Indian and global music landscape.
