Music composer Mithoon and singer Palak Muchhal are set to pay a heartfelt musical tribute to the late Bollywood legend Dharmendra at this year’s Zee Cine Awards 2026, organisers announced. The performance will commemorate the actor’s extraordinary six-decade career and his enduring impact on Indian cinema.
Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24, 2025, was celebrated as one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved stars, admired not only for his versatility and charisma but also for his warmth, generosity and timeless screen presence. His work spanned genres and generations, making him a cinematic icon whose legacy resonates with audiences across eras.
At a press conference in Mumbai ahead of the awards ceremony, Mithoon shared his emotional connection to the tribute performance. He explained that he and Palak Muchhal aim to honour the actor’s legacy by presenting selections drawn from some of Indian cinema’s most memorable songs associated with Dharmendra’s films. Mithoon highlighted legendary composers such as Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Madan Mohan and R.D. Burman (“Pancham Da”) whose music defined many moments of Dharmendra’s career, and said he hopes to reflect the depth and beauty of that history through the performance.
The special segment, expected to be a highlight of Zee Cine Awards 2026, scheduled for February 28 and March 1, seeks to remind audiences that while the actor may be gone, his spirit lives on through his films and the music that accompanied them.
