Superhero entertainment is gearing up for a blockbuster 2026, with major theatrical releases from Marvel, DC, and other global franchises arriving alongside immersive audio storytelling experiences on Pocket FM.
From big-screen spectacles like Supergirl, Avengers: Doomsday, and Masters of the Universe to officially licensed Marvel audio series on Pocket FM, the year is expected to offer fans a wide range of superhero experiences across formats.
Among the major theatrical releases lined up for 2026 is The Mandalorian and Grogu, scheduled for release on May 22. Expanding the popular Disney+ series into a theatrical format, the film will see Pedro Pascal reprise his role as the Mandalorian alongside Grogu, with Sigourney Weaver also joining the cast.
Meanwhile, Pocket FM is continuing to expand its superhero audio catalogue through its partnership with Disney Publishing APAC. One of the standout titles on the platform is Spider-Man: Forever Young, an officially licensed Marvel audio series that reimagines Peter Parker’s journey through immersive sound design and serialized storytelling.
The action genre also gets a major boost with Mortal Kombat II, which released theatrically on May 8 under Warner Bros. Pictures. Starring Karl Urban, Adeline Rudolph, and Jessica McNamee, the sequel expands the franchise’s high-intensity combat universe with larger action set pieces and returning fan-favourite characters.
Fantasy franchise Masters of the Universe is set for theatrical release on June 5, bringing He-Man and the world of Eternia back to screens with a cast featuring Idris Elba, Jared Leto, Camila Mendes, and Nicholas Galitzine.
DC Studios will also release Supergirl on June 26, inspired by the acclaimed comic storyline “Woman of Tomorrow.” The film is expected to present a darker and more emotionally layered version of Kara Zor-El as DC continues reshaping its cinematic universe.
Marvel’s web-slinger returns to theatres on July 31 with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya. The film is expected to explore a fresh chapter in Peter Parker’s story following the events of previous multiverse-focused films.
Closing out the year, Avengers: Doomsday is already being positioned as one of Marvel Studios’ most ambitious projects yet. The film is expected to feature Robert Downey Jr. returning to the Marvel universe in a new role as Doctor Doom, generating major anticipation among MCU fans globally.
Alongside these theatrical releases, Pocket FM and Disney Publishing APAC are also expanding superhero storytelling into audio entertainment through 36 exclusive Marvel audio stories in Hindi, featuring iconic characters including Spider-Man.
With major film releases and audio-first superhero narratives arriving simultaneously, 2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years yet for superhero fandom across cinema and streaming audio platforms.
