On New Year’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted renowned Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh at his residence for an inspiring discussion on positioning India as a global hub for music and entertainment. The meeting, captured in a video on PM Modi's official YouTube channel, has sparked widespread excitement ahead of the upcoming Waves Summit 2025.

Diljit proposed the idea of a global music festival to showcase India's rich talent, drawing parallels with iconic events like Coachella. He highlighted India’s untapped artistic potential, saying, “Even at a dhaba in Rajasthan, someone’s singing can rival that of professional performers. India has immense, hidden talent.”

PM Modi shared his vision for the Waves Summit, stating, “I have a dream… a movement to make India the global center of creativity.” He announced that the Waves Summit in April 2025 will bring the world’s creative talents to India, making the country the epicenter of global artistic innovation.

Diljit, visibly moved, expressed his admiration as PM Modi emphasized that India’s journey to becoming a world musical stage is well underway.
