After the successful Season 4 opener Ae Ajnabee, Coke Studio Bharat has unveiled its second track, Bulleya Ve, a song rooted in themes of ego, humility, and self-realisation.
Drawing inspiration from the timeless story of Sufi poet Bulleh Shah and his spiritual guide Shah Inayat, the track traces an emotional journey shaped by arrogance, separation, and eventual surrender. The narrative captures Bulleh Shah’s fall from grace after a moment of pride disrupts his bond with his teacher, followed by a period of introspection and longing that leads him back in humility.
Bulleya Ve introduces Ashok Maskeen, a mill worker from Jalandhar, whose raw voice lends authenticity and emotional depth to the track. He is joined by Madhur Sharma and Swarit Shukl, who bring a restrained vocal presence and minimal production style, allowing the storytelling to take centre stage.
Shantanu Gangane, IMX Lead at Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia, said the track reflects India’s long-standing tradition of music as a medium for self-discovery. He noted that the collaboration blends powerful vocals with understated production to create an intimate listening experience rooted in Sufi philosophy.
Navneet Sodhi of Universal Music Group for Brands, India, added that Bulleya Ve aligns with the company’s focus on promoting authentic and diverse voices while reinterpreting timeless narratives for younger audiences.
The artists also highlighted the song’s simplicity and emotional honesty. Madhur Sharma described the track as understated yet impactful, while Ashok Maskeen called it a defining moment in his musical journey. Swarit Shukl emphasised the importance of minimal production in preserving the song’s emotional core.
With Bulleya Ve, Coke Studio Bharat Season 4 continues to spotlight diverse musical influences, from the streets of Punjab to classical Sufi poetry, building on the momentum of Ae Ajnabee, which featured Aditya Rikhari, Kutle Khan, and Ravator and has gained strong traction on streaming platforms.
The latest release reinforces the platform’s commitment to blending tradition with contemporary sound, bringing forward stories that resonate across generations.
