Anirudh Exits Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘King’; Sachin-Jigar Take Over Music Duties

Music composer Anirudh Ravichander has reportedly stepped away from Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film King, with composer duo Sachin-Jigar taking over the film’s music album and background score.

The development comes after Anirudh and the film’s makers mutually decided to part ways due to scheduling commitments. According to reports, the composer’s packed slate of projects in the South made it difficult for him to dedicate the time required for the film. His upcoming wedding with Sunrisers Hyderabad CEO Kavya Maran is also among his personal commitments.

Despite his exit, Anirudh will retain a musical connection with the project. He has reportedly composed a special theme track for King as a mark of respect for Shah Rukh Khan. Sachin-Jigar will rework the theme and incorporate it into the film’s background score.

The development marks a change in the film’s music team as director Siddharth Anand and Shah Rukh Khan prepare for its scheduled Christmas release.

Meanwhile, the film’s first song, ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’, was released on November 2, coinciding with Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday. Composed by Sachin-Jigar, the track features vocals by Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi, with an English rap section by Ed Sheeran. It also brings Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone together on screen.

King marks the reunion of Shah Rukh Khan and director Siddharth Anand after Pathaan. The film also features Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi and Raghav Juyal, among others.

Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, King is scheduled to release in theatres on December 24, 2026.
