Abhijit Vaghani Launches The SWAMP Academy For Aspiring Music Producers And Songwriters

Music producer, composer and arranger Abhijit Vaghani has announced the launch of The SWAMP Academy, a new music education institute aimed at nurturing the next generation of songwriters, producers and music professionals in India.

Standing for Songwriting and Music Production, The SWAMP Academy has been conceived as a future-focused learning hub that combines creativity, technology and real-world industry exposure through immersive and hands-on music education.

Located in Versova, Mumbai, the academy spans over 5,000 square feet across three floors and features modern classrooms, jam rooms and collaborative learning spaces designed to support creative exploration and musical development.

The institute's flagship programme will be a 12-month full-time Diploma in Music Production, with its founding batch scheduled to begin on September 2, 2026. Alongside the diploma programme, the academy will offer three-month professional certification courses in music production, vocals, songwriting and instrumental performance.

Speaking about the initiative, Vaghani described The SWAMP Academy as a passion project and an opportunity to give back to an industry that has shaped his career over the past 25 years.

"The music industry has given me a lot over the last 25 years, and this academy is my way of giving back by helping shape the next generation of Indian music professionals," he said. "We wanted to create the kind of space many of us wished existed when we started out,a place where creativity meets real industry learning. Our goal is to help students master both the technical and creative aspects of music while developing their own artistic identity through mentorship, collaboration, performance and exposure to professionals actively shaping the industry today."

The academy's faculty will comprise practising music professionals, while its advisory board features several leading names from the Indian music ecosystem, including Pritam Chakraborty, Shekhar Ravjiani, Salim Merchant, Sulaiman Merchant, Harshdeep Kaur, Ash King, Amaal Malik, Armaan Malik, Meghdeep Bose, Vijay Dayal, Aftab Khan, Shomu Seal, Rochak Kohli, Gaurav Vaswani, Shannon Donald and Esani Dey, among others.

A key feature of the academy is its focus on accessibility and inclusion. Two seats in every batch have been reserved for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The campus has also been designed with accessibility features, including ramp access and infrastructure that supports ease of movement for students with varying physical abilities.

The curriculum will focus on building strong foundations in music theory, songwriting and production, while encouraging students to explore their creative identities. The academy will welcome learners across different age groups, with eligibility varying by programme.

With its emphasis on mentorship, industry integration and practical learning, The SWAMP Academy aims to establish itself as a launchpad for emerging talent and a new destination for contemporary music education in India.
