Warner Music India And Renzu Music Join Forces To Elevate Kashmiri Voices

Warner Music India has entered into a distribution agreement with Renzu Music, the independent label dedicated to nurturing talent from the Kashmir Valley. The collaboration gives the Srinagar-based operation access to one of the country’s most powerful music distribution networks, marking a significant milestone in its journey.

Founded by filmmaker Danish Renzu, Renzu Music has carved out a niche by pairing curated Kashmiri sounds with cinematic storytelling through evocative music videos. The label’s growing roster includes both emerging and established voices such as Zahra Banoo, Noor Mohammad, Hyder Dar, Adam, Saqib Wani, Shivani Matyal, Bilal Tantray, Afaq Dar, Kafil Qureshie, Tasneef Bukhari, and Masrat Un Nissa.

Several standout fusion projects showcase Renzu Music’s unique vision. Folk icon Noor Mohammad collaborates with Rashmeet Kaur on Ranjha and with Shikha Joshi on Maryo, while IP Singh adds to the label’s repertoire with Chingari.

“Our goal has always been to take the music of Kashmir to a wider audience and build a cultural bridge between the Valley and the rest of the world,” said Danish Renzu. “This partnership with Warner Music India does exactly that. I’m grateful to Vaibhav [Nagpal, Head of Partner Relations, Acquisition and Distribution, Warner Music India] for his support, and I’m excited for the projects we’re about to share with the world.”

The deal has drawn praise for its cultural significance. Actor Saba Azad noted, “Kashmir is often in the news, but rarely do we see its culture in the mainstream. I’m delighted Danish is bringing Kashmiri music forward and that Warner is backing his vision.”

For the artists, the collaboration offers a platform to experiment and blend tradition with modernity. Reflecting on her project with Noor Mohammad, Shikha Joshi said, “Merging Kashmiri folk with contemporary elements was an enriching experience. His authentic folk texture gave the music a truly unique sound.”

Actor Udit Arora, who has collaborated with the label, added, “Kashmiri music is incredibly beautiful, and it’s time it got the recognition it deserves. This partnership is a big step toward that.”

By joining forces with Warner Music India, Renzu Music is set to elevate Kashmiri sounds onto the national and global stage—bringing the Valley’s rich cultural legacy into the mainstream conversation.
