India, as a country has one of the richest musical traditions in the world Be it classical, folk, modern, film, spiritual and many sub genres in between, our country has a plethora of styles of music rarely found in any other country. It is often opined that the 50,s 60’s, 70’s and 80’s were the golden age of Indian music. The great legacy of classical, film and folk music created in that period still resonates with elan. With these thoughts, comes into formation a brand new music entity named “ETERNAL SOUNDS” which was launched today at Tata 88 East. This company has been formed to create a rich legacy of quality music.
The key players behind Eternal Sounds are: Mr. Utsav Parekh, Financial Markets Guru;Mayank Jalan, Industrialist, Managing Director at Keventer Agro Ltd.; Gaurang Jalan, National Award Winner & Film Maker; Mr. Bickram Ghosh, Music Maestro and the launch was attended by: Usha Uthup, Singer; Arindam Sil, Director; Ustad Rashid Khan, Musician; Jaya Seal Ghosh, Tollywood Actress and many other eminent personalities.
The label was launched by its four partners who are lovers of music and have a strong desire to see the resurgence of endearing music in India. It is from this intrinsic passion and inherent belief, that they have married their strengths, and this Company has been formed. The event witnessed its launch in the presence of all its partners along with other eminent personalities. The content at Eternal Sounds will be guided by the ears of Pt. Bickram Ghosh who is known globally for the quality of his musical works be it in films, music albums or live shows.
Speaking to the media, Maestro Bickram Ghosh, Proprietor, Taalim - said, ‘’Most people today concentrate only on creating music which is the flavour of the season whereas on the other hand, Eternal Sounds vision is to concentrate on creating music that is enduring. Some names worth mentioning here are Hariharan, Usha Uthup, Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Kavita Seth, Mahalakshmi Iyer. In the classical genre we will work with Pt Vishwamohan Bhatt, Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty, Ustad Rashid Khan, Pt Ronu Mazumdar, Kaushiki Chakraborty amongst many others, with whom we will be creating many soulful compositions! We also wish to create several International collaborations with several prominent artists (depending on their acquiescence) like John Mc Laughlin, Norah Jones, Ricky Cage, Anoushka Shankar, Greg Ellis, Steve Smith etc. which may be Grammy-worthy entries from India. These projects will aim to create a mark on the international music scene of the world too. We are gradually reaching out to these artists and creating projects”.
On this occasion, Mayank Jalan, MD, Keventer Agro Ltd. said, “We want to create that music, which covers the entire plethora of Indian music, and is not necessarily driven by the objective of a seasonal hit. We hope that we will be able to gift our audiences music of great value in the coming years.”
