Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman has announced that he will undertake a 40-day digital detox to fully immerse himself in crafting the music for the highly anticipated epic film Ramayana. The decision, revealed during a live performance in Chennai, reflects his intent to eliminate distractions and concentrate on one of the most ambitious projects of his career.
Rahman, known globally for his work across Indian cinema, shared that stepping away from constant online engagement will allow him to devote undivided attention to composing and refining the film’s soundtrack. A major Ramayana event slated for March 2026 is expected to officially introduce the film’s cast and crew, making the completion of his work a key priority ahead of that presentation.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana is set to release in two parts, with the first installment targeting Diwali 2026. The star-studded cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Raavan and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. Rahman’s creative process for the project has drawn attention, with insiders noting his intensified pace to complete compositions in time for upcoming milestones.
The digital break marks a rare and deliberate withdrawal from social media and online interactions for Rahman, underscoring the cultural and creative significance he attaches to his work on Ramayana.
