Nexa Music Launches Nationwide Hunt for Emerging Indie Artists
Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa Experiences has launched Nexa Music to showcase India’s aboriginal talent. Created in collaboration with digital media company Qyuki, the platform is a nationwide hunt for budding musicians creating original music in English-language across India. In addition to Qyuki, Nexa has also collaborated with Rolling Stone India to cull the year-long quest to discover independent musicians. The said magazine will also act as an editorial partner to create awareness about the project and find talent that has the potential to influence the international market.
Our partnership with Qyuki and Nexa Music couldn’t be more fitting because we all share a common goal: to create a creative ecosystem for independent artists to flourish,” said Rolling Stone India‘s executive editor Nirmika Singh in a statement.

How can artists apply?

  • Those who aspire to compete will be required to share their unreleased or non-promoted original compositions on the Nexa Music website.
  • Once uploaded, a jury comprising of Academy Award winner and co-founder of Qyuki A.R. Rahman and Bollywood composer Clinton Cerejo will shortlist 24 contestants who will qualify for the mentorship program at the Nexa Music Lab.
  • The best 4 will be selected and guided by celebrity mentors like singer-songwriter Nikhil D’Souza, singer/performer Anushka Manchanda and Indus Creed’s lead singer Uday Benegal to create four new tracks and music videos.
  • The final four contestants will also get the opportunity to go on tour and perform 12 live events across India along with their mentors.
Qyuki co-founder and managing director Samir Bangara said about the partnership,
We’ve created an interesting collaboration with perhaps the most iconic magazine in music and pop culture, Rolling Stone. They will help us curate a lot of the talent and when we talk about packaging its also important [for artists] to be covered editorially, get your voice out there. So I think we’re doing everything in our power to sort of amp this up.”
If you are an emerging independent artist, this is your golden chance to make it big under the guidance of the best in the business. Entries are only being accepted until February 28, 2019. Click here to apply.
