Monica Sharma Dogra is an Indian-American singer, spoken-word artist, performer, dancer, actor, writer and also a DJ of Indian origin and she literally needs no introduction when it comes to her accomplishments in the Independent music, film and fashion industry. After winning a competition at the age of 16, she debuted at Carnegie Hall and then went on to graduate from NYU’s prestigious music performance program - which catapulted her to appear in the New York Theatre Circuit doing both plays and musicals. This boss ass lady has always stuck to her guns and left audiences and fans in awe of her unique style and musical abilities and has left quite an impact. We can’t NOT afford to give her a shout out especially on her birthday! Monica has worn multiple hats in her career in the music industry. She sure is a sweetheart, one of the biggest supporters the Indian Independent music scene has. We'll take you through multiple roles Monica Dogra plays on a day to day basis. Monica Dogra aka Shaa'ir,  is one half of the Mumbai-based electronic rock duo we all came to love called Shaa'ir + Func along with guitarist Randolph Correia and we can’t stress on how fresh and ballsy their music and style is and can’t wait to hear more of their new stuff! S+F have played at some of the biggest festivals in the world, such as The Big Chill (UK), MIDEM (France), Glastonbury (UK), OYA (Norway), c/o POP (Germany), Indian Music Fest (Holland) and has been nominated by VH1 at the 2015 Europe Music Awards under the Best India Act category, which falls under the Worldwide Act category.

Now that our groove is on, we wanted to take you through her mind-bending body of work whether it’s her solo projects under her moniker Shaa’ir or her Bollywood debut in Kiran Rao's critically acclaimed and beautifully shot directorial debut, "Dhobi Ghat" alongside Aamir Khan and Prateik Babbar, which received 4/5 stars by the Toronto star after premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival. The host of The Dewarists, a musical collaborative show/travelogue/ documentary which literally paved the way for musicians in the Indie music scene and showcases the insane variety of talent that represents India on the global music industry. She is also one of the collaborators on the season premiere of The Dewarists S3 and takes us to the snowy, beautiful hills for a beautiful collaboration with Prashant Mistry of Engine Earz Experiment and visual artist, Eric Pare. She also happens to be a judge on the first ever singing talent hunt show titled 'The Stage' alongside Vishal Dadlani, Ehsaan Noorani and showed off her butt-kicking skills with the badass reality show “Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi S8” Shortly after which she released her debut solo album last year titled 'Spit' that featured collaborations with artists from around the world such as Robot Koch (Germany/LA), Prash 'Engine-Earz' Mistry (UK), Gaurav Raina (India) to name a few.

Also, her recent foray into mixing is something we’re so stoked about. Monica made this sick mix for Wild City earlier this year and we can’t get over it.

"This mix is pure dancefloor vibes. I've lived nearly half of my life on a dancefloor and I like it raw, deep and heavy all at the same time. I imagine this being a good mix to get hyped to before you head out to the party. Or make a party wherever you are." - said Monica on her mix for Wild City.
