Album Breakdown: 'Original Never Ends' by Badshah
Badshah has created a lot of 'Buzz' with his debut album O.N.E. After a lot of delay and push, the album is finally here. There is no bigger artist than Badshah in his style of music right now. He has been a constant hit-maker and serious businessman. His fans were highly anticipating the release of his album. Since it's Badshah's debut album, Original Never Ends had to be a unique-sounding album. Badshah never disappoints. O.N.E. is a lengthy album. You have to play and observe the album to grasp every bit of it. This will take time. Anyway, how is the sound of the album? Let's find out.

The Sound

Badshah has a reputation of dropping happy-go-lucky party music. However, O.N.E. is not a consistent party album. Badshah has tried to shortlist tracks for every vibe. In other words, Badshah has tried to put out a different side of him on 17 different songs. While tracks like DJ Waley Babu and Mercy are going to help you bounce, a lot of music on the album will give you a reality-check. Jaavi Na is a blend of dark melodies, love rhymes & mellow energy. Heartless is soothing enough to make you positive but the video triggers dark vibes. Tracks like ILL I Am & Aisa Na Dekh Mujhe are Badshah's attempt on heavy lyricism and punchline. Take Off lands in the lyrical game as well. In fact, the lyricism on these tracks is wise but not too wise to spin your head around. Badshah claims that She Move It Like was written, produced and recorded in the span of a hour. There is a lot of singing on this album. Badshah sung on Tareefaan a few months ago. Tracks like Kya Kehte Ho, No Limit and others had Badshah singing them.

Guests & Features

There is a plenty of Badshah on Original Never Ends but features are very limited. Considering that Badshah is a solo act, it's a wise move. Badshah brought in Aastha Gill on three tracks. In other words, Badshah collaborated with Aastha Gill on DJ Waley Babu, Heartless & Light Kardo Band. As a matter of fact, their old track Abhi To Party sits on 196 million views on YouTube. Their last collaboration was on Aastha Gill’s debut-single, Buzz. Badshah wrote, produced and featured on the track and the song has indeed changed the game for Aastha. Buzz sits on 124 million views today. Badshah had to bring his trusted female singer on the album. Who else is better than Aastha Gill on Badshah's hooks? Another surprise was Sajeel Kapoor. Sajeel is a hip-hop producer from Delhi, India. His popularly known as Sez on the Beat. He might sound like a new name to you but he has a reputation in Indian hip-hop circuit. In fact, he has produced tracks for Divine, Prabh Deep, Seedhe Maut, Naezy and others. Divine and Naezy's breakthrough single, Mere Gully Mein was produced by him. The track currently sits on 6.4 million views. Badshah keeps a close-eye on hip-hop music scene in India. He bought two beats by Sez and wrote Right Up There and No Limit on them. Right Up There features Lisa Mishra on the melodies as well. This track sounds international and there's no doubt about it. Punjabi producer The Boss has produced Aisa Na Dekh Mujhe on the album. Sunidhi Chauhan lend her vocals on Aashiq Aawara.

The Reception

Gaana is one of India's most popular music streaming app. The app has more than 75 million users and gets almost 2 billion streams monthly. The platform has a very massive audience. Sony Music decided to experiment with Original Never Ends. As a result, their efforts made O.N.E. the first album to be launched solely online. Gaana claims that the exclusive release of Heartless on Gaana brought 1.5 million streams in less than 24 hours. This is a record for audio-streaming platforms in India for a single track. DJ Waley Babu came out 3 years ago and cemented Badshah's image in the industry. The track currently sits on 185 million views. This is probably the most successful track of Badshah's entire solo career. Another single from the album was Mercy. Badshah once suggested that he invested a lot of money to make the video of Mercy massive. It was big indeed. The track has received 136 million views since then. The latest video that Badshah released before the album came out was Heartless. The video is one of a kind and has earned around 21 million views in 5 days. The album is promising and has something for everyone. Tell us your opinions in the comments down below. Stream O.N.E.
