Apple Music has announced that its analytics platform for musicians, called Apple Music for Artists, is out after a one-year beta and available for all.
Back-end dashboards are priceless for artists to get insights about how their music is performing on a platform across the world. Thanks to Shazam buy-out in Sept 2018, Apple is also providing Shazam analytics for the artists.
It is no longer a web-only product because Apple is releasing an iPhone app. On both web and iOS, Apple Music for Artists allows musicians to see the number of plays, their reach and their earnings.
There’s also an “insights” section designed to highlight remarkable data at any given moment, like how the first week of a new song compares to the first weeks of previous songs, or when the popularity of a song is spiking, or if they’ve hit a significant milestone like 1 million plays for which badges are rewarded.
There are a ton of insights you can check out down to the city level in over 100 countries, and all of this data and activity about streams and sales can be viewed either in lists or on a visual heat map. The insights would help the artist to map out their concert tours, depending on the visual heat map.
All of this very promising and will be interesting to see how artists feel about it compared to Gaana Artist Dashboard and Spotify Artist Dashboard. Apple Music for Artists is now available for every artist on Apple Music. Artists can sign up and claim their account on
Apple’s dedicated site.
