Seeking Rising Stars: Amplify Music Incubator Accepting Applications For June 2024 Edition

Amplify Music Incubator was created in 2021 to address the lack of support and infrastructure for independent artists in India and has announced a call for applications for its seventh edition that begins on June 11. Applications will be accepted May 8 onwards.

Developed by Mumbai-based music agency Gatecrash and Music Mulakatein Foundation, Amplify Music Incubator (AMI) is a national not-for-profit initiative that helps up-and-coming artists by providing cultural and creative entrepreneurship training, building strong networks in the industry as well as a strong focus on community building amongst artists.

A hybrid six-week program – five weeks online and a final, week-long residency in Goa followed by a showcase – AMI has featured projects like T.ill Apes, Easy Wanderlings, RANJ + Clifr, Anoushka Maskey, Shreyas Iyengar, Sheherazaad among others, and imparted over 800 hours of professional development training via industry experts from India, Canada, UK, and France.

Applications for 15 spots for the seventh batch – that runs from June 11 to July 22 – will open on May 8 and close on May 25 (midnight). Please apply here.

AMI aims to help artists understand the creative and business side of what it is to be an artist – including building a greater understanding of the power of creative collaboration while demystifying PR and promotions, copyrights and royalties, and the complex world of streaming, and even styling for live shows. Artist wellbeing is another aspect that forms a mainstay in the program with workshops and talks around enabling artists to better nurture themselves.

“At AMI we love working with artists, who not only create great music but are also super passionate about what they are doing,” says Tanish Thakker, founder AMI. There are also a few parameters that the program follows while selecting artists. For example – artists have to show that they are serious about their projects and this is gauged by the previous body of work that they have put out i.e. music released, videos put out, number of shows played, etc. “We also like seeing artists who want to invest in learning and developing themselves but are also willing to contribute to the community that we are building,” he adds.
