India Music Summit , Striking The True Note Of Music!
MTV India Music Summit 2017, held in Jaipur, October 27-29, 2017 commenced with a magical experience having Pandit Jasraj and his disciples serenading the listeners with Hindustani Classical Music. The conference was blessed with the presence of multiple classical legends. Music industry individuals and students gathered in a forum to immerse into three days of soul-stirring performances, conversations and panel discussions. It's more than just another conference, it's a gathering so enlightening, pure and real.  The summit is a congregation of music lovers and musicians under one marquee and the kind that straddles a rare variety of genres; Hindustani, and Carnatic classical, Jazz, folk, devotional, electronica and more. The summit was designed to dissolve the distance between the artist, and the audiences. The energy of music uniting all to one. It's a gathering to bring a variety of artists from a variety of genres for a diverse listenership.

Ek Sachha Sur Lagaye, Chalo | Anthem By Shankar Mahadevan , Lyrics By Prasoon Joshi

The beautiful composition was the conference anthem, kept everyone motivated and going every single day. The song translates into "Lets Hit A True Note" which the MTV India Music Summit did reflect across the three days of concerts, panels, and conversations. The honesty, among the panels, was reflective. The sound by Shankar Mahadevan truly was beautiful and a catchy tune.

An Attempt To Preserve Classical Art Form At India Music Summit

Hindustani Classical Music is a part of a much bigger challenge of it being neglected. This rich sound is slowly dying, no more as widely celebrated as it was a decade ago. MTV India Music Summit witnessed living legends gathering under one roof, solely for the love of celebrating the sound of music.  The summit did the same via multiple efforts, be it musical evenings, or early morning concerts. Exhibition on Hindustani Classical Music too was a beautiful attempt on sustaining the Classical Music.

100+ Artists Under One Roof!

From Grammy Winning Producer, Jeff Bhasker, to living legends like Pandit Jasraj, Kaushiki Chakraborty's sweet voice,  Hariharan's magic...and 100 more MTV India Music Summit literally had them all!! A different segment of audiences gathered, for music, from the music industry! Many artists who weren't a part of the concert series across three days were also noted to be there. Singer Shaan was one of them!

Start Of Many New Conversations

The idea of the summit is to initiate unspoken conversations, MTV India Music Summit fulfilled that to a great extent. Be it from the panel of Women In Music, or from TM Krishna's impeccable keynote. They were all very moving, relevant and informative. The conversations offline were even more encouraging and driven! On Copyrights, sustaining our culture, on global mindset, all about Indian music business realities. Challenges and progress! They sure will lead progress, change and continued celebration!

Brands At India Music Summit

We sure can learn how it's done by MusiConcepts. A total of 17 partners, and multiple exhibitors. They all found a collective value in the summit and it indeed was incredible to see them all coming together for music. Based on our conversation with the founding team, it all did fall into place thanks to the partners!

The Loudest Highlight Of The Conference

The Concert Curation and Vibe! That for us was the selling point. The main stage was placed on the balcony of the palace, beautifully lit stage, and wonderfully curated concerts. The opening concert "Odyssey" produced by Lesle Lewis, having exceptional musicians including Hariharan, George Brookes, Ajay Prasanna, Amit Choubey, Shujaat Khan, Kaushiki Chakraborty and more. Followed by the same was rocking performance by Papon, and Kaushiki's Seduction by "Thumri's" was magical too. Day 2, celebrated folk sounds, at the Folk Jam curated and production by Clinton Cerejo, Bianca Gomes, Jasbir Jassi, Sunanda Sharma, The Manganiyars entertained the audiences. The Independent Musicians: Vasundhara Vee and Shadow & Light were among the independent musicians who were given a chance to perform at the same stage as of the legendary musicians. Vasundhara vee, made Papon & Shaan, along with the audiences groove and appreciate her range, and style of music. She was also appreciated by Jeff Bhasker for her jazz style and voice. Pavitra Charri from Shadow & Light is a beautiful example of contemporary classic sounds. She has an incredible voice, and grace in her style. [caption id="attachment_2325" align="alignnone" width="820"] Shadow & Light at India Music Summit[/caption] The Morning Concerts: That's right, you read that right. There is no better way to start your day, and MTV India Music Summit made it all happen. Concerts starting at 06:00 AM, Flute meditation by Ajay Prasanna, or the beautiful Nagaland Conservatory of Music Choir. Ustad Shujaat Khan & Pandit Chhannulal Mishra, they all blessed the listeners with positive energy to start the day with. Tribute To Smt. Girija Devi by Jeff Bhasker, Jasbir Jassi, Sunanda Sharma and Prasoon Joshi: Believe me when I say, the captivating poetry, beautiful keys by Bhasker,  Soulful voice of Jasbir Jassi and Sunanda Sharma covered the entire audience in goosebumps. It was the most beautiful tribute that I personally have experienced, it was so pure, real and impromptu, that nobody wanted the four to stop. Covered in tears, amidst silence, remembering Smt. Girija Devi was truly the highlight! You can hear the performance on Jasbir Jassi's Page, here you go!
