YouTube Music 2025 Recap Launches With New AI Chat For Personalised Insights

YouTube Music has begun rolling out its 2025 Recap, giving users an early look at their annual listening trends. First spotted by 9to5Google, this year’s biggest upgrade is an AI-powered chat tool that lets listeners ask personalised questions about their habits, from mood-based summaries to changes in listening patterns. The feature builds on the popularity of year-end reviews first made mainstream by Spotify Wrapped.

What’s New in YouTube Music’s 2025 Recap

Users can check for the Recap by opening the YouTube Music app, tapping their profile icon and navigating to the Recap section. The feature appears in a story-style format on both Android and iOS, with a carousel to switch between categories.

The Recap opens with total minutes listened and users’ longest listening streak, followed by their most-played song and top five tracks. It also generates a personalised playlist and seasonal playlists for September through November.

Listeners will find insights on their top artist, referred to as their “musical bestie”,complete with a calendar showing the exact days they listened. A “musical passport” highlights how globally diverse their favourite artists are, while other sections cover top albums, genres, podcasts and a final summary card for sharing.

AI Chat Brings Personalised Insights

The headline addition this year is the AI-driven “Ask anything about your 2025 listening experience” chat tool. Powered by YouTube Music’s AI assistant, Ask Music, it lets users request custom insights such as “How did my listening change over the year?”, “Was my music more chill or hype?” or even playful prompts like “Describe my listening as a weather report.”

Responses are formatted for easy sharing on social media. The AI chat feature is rolling out gradually and is expected to reach more users in the coming days.
