ChatGPT Integrates Apple Music As OpenAI Launches App Submission Program

OpenAI has announced that it is now accepting app submissions for review and publication within ChatGPT, inviting developers to bring their apps onto the platform.

The company said the first batch of approved apps will roll out gradually in the new year. OpenAI added that it plans to explore additional monetisation opportunities over time, once it gains deeper insight into how developers and users interact within the ChatGPT ecosystem.

“This is just the beginning. Over time, we want apps in ChatGPT to feel like a natural extension of the conversation, helping people move from ideas to action, while building a thriving ecosystem for developers. As we learn from developers and users, we’ll continue refining the experience for everyone.

We also plan to grow the ecosystem of apps in ChatGPT, make apps easier to discover, and expand the ways developers can reach users and monetise their work,” OpenAI said in a blog post.

Several apps are already listed on ChatGPT’s app page, including Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Expedia, Instacart, Replit, Spotify, among others.

Apple Music has also joined the platform. While users can access basic features without a subscription, a paid Apple Music membership is required for more advanced functionality such as accessing a personal music library.

“With this app, ChatGPT can connect to Apple Music so all users can search the Apple Music catalogue for songs, artists, albums and playlists,no subscription required. All users can discover music, generate playlists and listen to clips directly within ChatGPT. Users with Apple Music subscriptions can also add songs, albums and playlists to their personal Apple Music library,” the Apple Music app bio on ChatGPT stated.
