After capturing listeners across streaming platforms with its original Malayalam version, Kalyani has returned in a new avatar. Def Jam Recordings India has unveiled Kalyani Remix, featuring acclaimed playback singer Shreya Ghoshal alongside the original creators ARJN, KDS, RONN, and FIFTY4, with actor Saniya Iyappan headlining the official music video.
Originally rooted in Malayalam, Kalyani became an unexpected crossover success, gaining popularity far beyond Kerala through streaming services and social media. The remix retains the emotional essence of the original while introducing fresh Hindi vocals by Shreya Ghoshal, expanding the song's reach without losing its core identity.
The accompanying music video features Malayalam actor Saniya Iyappan, offering a visually refreshed interpretation of the song's themes of romance and longing.
Speaking about joining the project, Shreya Ghoshal said she was drawn to the song's sincerity and melody. She noted that her goal was to add a new perspective rather than alter what had already resonated with audiences, describing the collaboration as an opportunity to bridge linguistic boundaries through music.
ARJN reflected on the track's journey, saying the overwhelming response to Kalyani had exceeded the team's expectations. He added that collaborating with Shreya Ghoshal felt like a natural step in taking the song to a wider audience while preserving its original spirit. KDS described the remix as a continuation of the song's message that emotion transcends language, while FIFTY4 said Ghoshal's ability to connect with listeners across multiple languages made her an ideal collaborator.
The original Kalyani enjoyed strong chart success, reaching No. 17 on Spotify India's Top 200 chart, No. 2 on Spotify UAE's Top 200, and No. 32 on Spotify's Global Viral Songs chart. It also gained traction in markets including Singapore, Malaysia and the UAE, underscoring the growing global appeal of regional Indian music
