Several philanthropists continue to step forward in support of the District Red Cross Society, which works to assist the poor, vulnerable and needy. Among them is Dharampal, a retired music lecturer from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Memorial Government College, Hamirpur, who has donated Rs 1 lakh to the organisation.
Visually impaired yet deeply respected for his exceptional command over music, Dharampal has spent decades shaping the careers of students, many of whom now serve as music lecturers across colleges in the state. Now 75, he is a resident of Bagchoki village in the Kuthehra area of the district.
Amarlit Singh, Deputy Commissioner and president of the District Red Cross Society, expressed gratitude for Dharampal’s contribution, describing it as a powerful example of selfless giving. “The Red Cross Society remains committed to supporting the poor, helpless and needy. Contributions made from honest earnings can significantly improve lives,” he said.
Singh added that Dharampal’s gesture serves as an inspiration for others, encouraging more people to extend support and contribute towards humanitarian causes through the Red Cross Society.
