Gaan Baksho Group Appoints Joshua Perera As Head of Partnerships, Sri Lanka

Australian music rights and distribution company Gaan Baksho Group has appointed Joshua Perera as Head of Partnerships, Sri Lanka, marking a strategic move to strengthen its footprint across South Asia.

Based in Sri Lanka, Perera will lead local industry engagement, focusing on building strategic partnerships, driving market development, educating rights holders, and supporting long-term business growth.

The appointment establishes Gaan Baksho Group’s first dedicated on-ground presence in Sri Lanka and aligns with its broader vision of connecting South Asian music markets to global-standard rights infrastructure.

The company said its Sri Lanka strategy will prioritise building a more rights-aware and commercially structured music ecosystem. Key focus areas include rights management, copyright enforcement, royalty systems, and enabling international music business opportunities. The move comes at a time when Sri Lanka’s music industry is gaining global attention, with increasing emphasis on ownership, catalogue value, and cross-border monetisation.

Perera brings over nine years of experience across the music and entertainment industry, combining commercial expertise with creative insight as both a producer and artist. His background in partnerships and music business development positions him to work closely with the local ecosystem as the company expands its regional presence.

Commenting on the appointment, Alvin S Pandey, CEO of Gaan Baksho Group, said, “Sri Lanka is an important market for us. The talent is there, the culture is strong, and the industry is ready for more structured global music business support.”

He added that Perera’s appointment will help the company build meaningful relationships within the Sri Lankan music industry while connecting it to international rights infrastructure. “Our focus is not only growth, but industry development. We want to support creators, rights holders and music businesses with the knowledge, systems and pathways they need to protect and monetise their work globally,” Pandey said.
