Abhijeet Ghoshal Releases Superfast ‘Clubmix Hanuman Chalisa’ For A New Generation

Indian youth are increasingly engaging with devotional music, but in forms that reflect their contemporary lifestyles. Rather than traditional, slow-tempo bhajans, younger listeners are gravitating towards high-energy, rhythm-driven reinterpretations that allow them to experience devotion in a more immersive and consistent way.

Singer Abhijeet Ghoshal believes this shift reflects a deeper desire to feel faith rather than merely listen to it. “Young people today are drawn to bhajans that have rhythm, energy and life,” he says. “They want devotion that moves them physically, emotionally and spiritually. When music becomes part of their daily rhythm, the connection with faith deepens naturally.”

This idea forms the foundation of Ghoshal’s latest release, Clubmix Hanuman Chalisa, a contemporary reimagining of one of India’s most revered devotional chants. A versatile vocalist and an 11-time Sa Re Ga Ma Pa winner, Ghoshal, who hails from Prayagraj and has Bengali roots, has retained the spiritual core of the Hanuman Chalisa while introducing a superfast tempo and modern production sensibilities aimed at younger audiences.

“Hanuman Chalisa has always been close to my heart,” Ghoshal says. “I wanted to honour its devotional essence while creating a version that resonates with a generation living in constant motion and high energy.”

Blending traditional melodic elements with electronic beats, dynamic tempos and contemporary sound design, Clubmix Hanuman Chalisa challenges conventional notions of devotional music. While club-style remixes are typically associated with dance floors, Ghoshal views the format as a way to make spiritual practice more accessible and engaging.

“Devotion doesn’t have to be quiet to be powerful,” he explains. “Consistency builds connection. If young people can engage with a bhajan every day through music that excites them, spirituality becomes a natural part of their lives rather than an occasional ritual.”

The track brings together a collaborative team of musicians and technicians. Music has been composed by Jeson Malu, while dubbing, mixing and mastering were handled by Ajay Kumar Singh at Swarit Studio, Mumbai. The lyrics are drawn from Goswami Tulsidas Ji’s Shri Ram Charit Manas. Ghoshal has arranged and composed the track and lent his vocals to the rendition, ensuring a balance between innovation and tradition.

Describing the release as more than just a song, Ghoshal says the intention is to create an experience where rhythm and devotion coexist. “It’s about allowing spirituality and dynamism to move together,” he notes. “This track is meant to let listeners meditate, move and connect with faith in a way that feels relevant to their lives today.”

With Clubmix Hanuman Chalisa, the artist joins a growing movement within India’s music ecosystem that is reinterpreting devotional content for a new generation, where bhakti meets beat, and ancient chants find fresh resonance in modern soundscapes.
