To begin with, music is a sonic experience. On the other hand, the visuals are used to convey stories. In fact, human brain associates visuals with a memory to store it. Music business has played a very crucial role in creating an industry around it. Marketing is as important as the music itself in today's world. That's where artworks & posters come in handy. Artworks are proven to boost sales. For this reason, music companies use this as a tool. There are artists who're making a fortune as an artwork designer. Metal music heads would agree that brutal artworks are an important part of metal music. Anirudh Singh, is a metal music artwork designer. His artist moniker is Nuclear Puke He is a student at DSK, Pune but has his roots in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Specific Design, Specific Artist.

Everyone has surely heard about Nucleya. He is sitting on the top of bass music scene in India. Nucleya was initially a part of of the Bandish Projekt which eventually disbanded with the span of time. Building an identity around his music and visuals was his major need. Everyone knows about his sound now. Nucleya is known for his geometrical designs as well. In fact, these specific designs were Nucleya's wife's vision. Smriti Choudhary has been a huge name in the Indian artwork industry. Most of the people know her as PinkSoda. In fact, PinkSoda was her art studio which gradually became her alias. Smriti has a different approach in her artworks but she specifically designed a theme for Nucleya. This theme features faces with geometrical shapes. She has designed the covers of both Bass Rani & Raja Baja. Smriti is also a live-set designer. Her video mashups are different as well and her performance with Nucleya has been iconic. Artists like her surely has a specific design. Smriti is the founder and owner of Airphish as well. Her vision was to connect nature with human soul. Airphish is a product brand which are designed by Smriti herself. Smriti once told Norm Mag, "Everything at Airphish begins with detailed hand-drawn illustrations and every process involves the human touch – from drawing to transferring each print onto the final product."

Mumbai's Finest?

Mumbai has been playing a very crucial part in the graphic's industry. A lot of great yet underrated artists hails from Mumbai, India. Since the hip-hop music scene has been growing enormously in the city, more artists are opting the graphic's industry as well. Once such name is SAGE from OZO. Rahul Singh aka SAGE is a street style visual artist. He discovered an artist within himself when he illustrated his college festival poster. This task led SAGE to decide his path of profession. Before college ran out, he had already combined his new-found love with his two other passions – hip-hop and street culture to create OZO Apparel, one of India’s first street wear brands. His major contribution to Indian hip-hop scene are posters for To The Culture 2016 and Delhi Funk Circle 2016. SAGE has also designed two album covers for one of India's oldest and most popular hip-hop crews, Mumbai's Finest. Mumbai Till I Die came out in the March of 2016 and was one of the most popular hip-hop albums of the country. Mumbai's Finest have worked with names like A.R. Rahman and others. Recently, Ace and Mumbai’s Finest also won ‘Best Independent Group’ at the 6th Edition of the Artist Aloud Music Awards. They also debuted in Bollywood with ‘Yatri Kripaya Dhyaan De’ from Love Per Square Foot. Designing an album cover for Mumbai's Finest was definitely an achievement. This album cover led him to design another album cover for Mumbai's Finest's member,  Abhishek Dhusia aka Ace. Ace has recently dropped his solo album Second to None. The album is gaining ears each day and SAGE is the guy behind the cover design of the album.

In a recent chat with Loudest.in, Ace shed lights on his opinion on SAGE.

Rahul (SAGE) is a visionary who is definitely ahead of his time. He is a dope artist and an amazing person. Definitely a guy that you can trust when it comes to designs.
Another artist from Mumbai is Dev Pawar. Sour Turnipp is his alter-ego which came into existence because of the thirst for art that has a conscious perspective and a reflective projection and also commercial value. Manipulation of reality and surrealism is a key factor in the art he has created as he want to branch out in the future as well.
Without denying the importance of analog art, he likes to make the viewers a bit open-minded towards different forms of art and how they are intertwined with each other by combining analog and digital ways to create the final product. Sour Turnipp has created the cover for Samsara's album Blame Adam. He has also done pieces for Diefferent from Mumbai's Finest, Loka's "Instant Grams". Sour Turnipp has made visuals for DreamTown, 7th Aayaam, Naezy the Baa, Mukkta, Lotus Cafe and other independent artistsBluesanova and Crazy Vibe are dropping their track "Damage" this week. Sour Turnipp has designed the cover art for that track as well. Artworks definitely tells a lot about the music but it describes an artist as well. A designer's approach is sometimes restricted to a client's demands but there is no doubt that artworks are very important. Artworks are way too involved in the business and have been playing a vital role in the industry. Next time when you look at an artwork, think about it's significance.
