Vietnam Plans World's Largest Stadium With 135,000 Seats In Hanoi

Vietnam is stepping up its ambitions in the global live entertainment market with plans to develop a 135,000-seat stadium in Hanoi, which is expected to become the world's largest stadium by seating capacity.

Vingroup has partnered with global venue management company Legends Global to manage and operate the upcoming VinFast – Trong Dong Stadium. The collaboration is aimed at positioning the venue as a destination for international concert tours, major sporting competitions and large-scale entertainment productions.

Stadium Set To Open In July 2027

Scheduled to open on July 31, 2027, the stadium will have a planned capacity of 135,000 spectators. Under the agreement announced on October 28, 2026, Legends Global will oversee venue and facility management, vendor coordination and on-site service operations.

The partnership will also make Legends Global Vingroup's exclusive partner for stadium, arena and live event services in Vietnam. The company will support the development and training of local venue management teams ahead of the stadium's opening.

Legends Global operates a network of more than 450 venues worldwide, hosting over 20,000 events and welcoming more than 165 million guests annually.

Stadium To Feature Retractable Roof And FIFA-Standard Playing Surface

The VinFast – Trong Dong Stadium is being designed to accommodate sporting events as well as large-scale entertainment productions. Its proposed features include an automated retractable roof, a FIFA-standard playing surface and technology-enabled security and crowd management systems.

The architectural design draws inspiration from Vietnam's Dong Son bronze drum and the legendary Lac bird, incorporating elements of the country's cultural heritage into the stadium's structure.

The venue will form part of the larger Hung Vuong International Sports Complex, which is expected to include sports facilities, training grounds, hotels, shopping centres, hospitals, parks, theatres and cultural and culinary spaces.

Vietnam's Live Entertainment Market Gains Momentum

The development comes as Vietnam witnesses growing interest in concerts, festivals and international live entertainment. Live events are also increasingly influencing travel decisions among audiences.

A 2025 report by The Business Times, citing a Booking.com survey, found that 62% of Vietnamese travellers surveyed had travelled in 2024 to attend events such as concerts, while 38% identified live music and festivals as important factors influencing their travel destinations.

For Legends Global, the agreement provides an opportunity to expand its presence in Asia's emerging live entertainment markets. For Vingroup, the partnership brings international venue management expertise to an infrastructure project designed to attract global touring productions and sporting events.

With a planned capacity of 135,000, VinFast – Trong Dong Stadium is expected to add a new dimension to Vietnam's entertainment infrastructure and strengthen Hanoi's ambitions of becoming a destination for major international concerts and large-scale live events.
