T-Series Acquires 50-Year Global Music Rights For Shah Rukh Khan's King

T-Series has secured the exclusive global commercial music rights for Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film King for a period of 50 years, in an agreement facilitated by Red Chillies Entertainment through Zee Music Company.

The development was reported by Bollywood Hungama on October 31, 2026, following industry speculation about a shorter licensing arrangement involving the film's music.

Under the agreement, T-Series will hold exclusive commercial exploitation rights worldwide for the film's musical assets, including songs, music videos and associated publishing interests, for the next five decades.

Clarifying the arrangement, a T-Series spokesperson said, “There is no transient licensing structure or short-term handover at play. T-Series has locked in an absolute 50-year commercial monopoly over the audio and music video rights for King. Every song, video, and publishing interest rests squarely under the T-Series banner for the long haul.”

The agreement positions T-Series to manage the film's music catalogue across platforms and formats well beyond its theatrical release, giving the label long-term commercial rights over one of the highly anticipated Hindi film soundtracks.

Sachin-Jigar To Compose Songs For King

Directed by Siddharth Anand, King features Shah Rukh Khan alongside Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. The film's songs are being composed by Sachin-Jigar, while Anirudh Ravichander is handling the background score.

The soundtrack has also generated interest following reports of a musical collaboration between British singer Ed Sheeran and Arijit Singh.

The film is scheduled for a Christmas 2026 theatrical release.

With the 50-year music rights agreement, King adds another significant development to the evolving business of film music acquisitions, highlighting the long-term commercial value of soundtracks and intellectual property in India's music industry.
