Rinaa Shah Takes India’s Afro House Movement Global With Experiential Music IP

DJ Rinaa Shah, known as Viking Soul, is emerging as a major force in India’s growing Afro House and tribal electronic music scene. An alumna of DJ School Amsterdam and Point Blank Music School in Ibiza, she has performed in over 20 Indian cities and internationally in places like Malta, Thailand, Vietnam and Croatia, blending Afro House and Afro Tech with live percussion and performance elements.

Shah has played at major festivals such as Sunburn and Eden of Sound, and shared stages with global artists including MoBlack, Enoo Napa, Jamie Jones and Sam Feldt. Her sets are now in demand not just at clubs and festivals, but also at high-profile private and corporate events, reflecting rising interest in Afro House in India.

A highlight of her work is Totem Tribe, an immersive performance concept that combines DJs, tribal dancers, aerial acts, fire performers and African percussion into multi-sensory live shows. Since its launch, Totem Tribe has completed more than 150 shows across India and is being positioned for international expansion.

Beyond music, Shah is an entrepreneur behind luxury footwear label Rinaldi Shoes and the founder of a professional polo team competing internationally. Her contributions have earned her multiple industry recognitions, including titles such as Economic Times Best Afro House DJ and awards for Totem Tribe as an iconic dance troupe.

With Afro House gaining traction in India’s nightlife and festival circuits, Shah’s efforts signal a broader shift towards genre diversification and experiential live entertainment, as she works to bring Indian Afro House to global audiences.
