Pyarelal’s Wife Sunila Pyarelal Passes Away; Music Fraternity Pays Tribute

The Indian music fraternity is mourning the passing of Sunila Pyarelal, wife of legendary music composer Pyarelal Sharma. She passed away on Sunday, leaving behind family, friends and admirers who remembered her warmth, grace and unwavering support for her husband throughout his illustrious career.

Among those paying tribute was music journalist and author Yogendra Prasad Yadav, who recalled a cherished memory from 2013 when the couple attended the launch of his first coffee table book during his Khumaar show. The event, organised with the support of entertainment journalist Chaitanya Padukone, coincided with Ram Navami.

Remembering the occasion, Yadav described Sunila and Pyarelal as “Ram-Sita ki jodi,” noting that they were rarely seen apart. Inspired by their enduring companionship, he titled his tribute “Ek Duje Ke Liye”—a reference to one of the most celebrated musical scores by the iconic Laxmikant–Pyarelal duo.

Yadav also reflected on visiting the couple at their residence alongside Padukone, saying the association had given him “many fond memories.” In his heartfelt message, he prayed for Sunila Pyarelal’s soul to rest in eternal peace.

Sunila Pyarelal remained a constant presence beside her husband through decades of his musical journey, quietly supporting one of India’s most celebrated composers. Her passing has prompted an outpouring of condolences from members of the music and entertainment community, who have remembered her with affection and respect.

She is survived by her family, while the legacy of togetherness she shared with Pyarelal continues to resonate with all those who knew the couple.
