Prime Minister Modi Celebrates Nine Years Of Mann Ki Baat, Emphasizes It’s Societal Significance

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi recently celebrated the ninth anniversary of his monthly radio show, Mann Ki Baat. During this special occasion, he shared some exciting news from a study done by the State Bank of India and the Indian Institute of Management, Bengaluru. This study carefully looked at 105 episodes of Mann Ki Baat and found out how the show has made a big difference in our society.

Sharing her thoughts on the nine years journey of 'Mann Ki Baat' Archana Kapoor, Founder Director SMART, a non profit organisation says, radio speaks to you directly, and spreads the least fake news. The power of Mann ki Baat reflects the power of the PM. He is a good orator, connects with the people, speaks to the people, and picks up current relatable themes, from climate change to startups, sanitation to women's empowerment.I think the dissemination strategy of Mann ki Baat is also what has made it so powerful. Nearly all the audio, visual, and social media platforms broadcast the program or carry snippets of it.There is no way you can miss the program. The more the clutter, the more important for a platform that talks to you and does not create noise. Social media looks good – you can quantify reach and views, but what is the recall.

One of the key revelations of the study was the continued relevance and effectiveness of radio as a medium for communication and connection in the digital age. Despite the dominance of online platforms and social media, Mann Ki Baat has managed to transcend these trends, reaching every corner of India. Its ability to bridge the gap between urban and rural communities highlights the enduring appeal of radio as a means of connecting with the nation.

"The Mann Ki Baat initiative, championed by the Prime Minister of India, stands as a testament to the power of radio across the country says, Abraham Thomas, CEO, BIG FM, it leverages the medium’s instant connect and hyper local reach to effectively communicate to the masses. With its core mission of raising awareness on societal issues, the show has made a significant impact on its listeners. Furthermore, radio, with its ability to provide real-time reporting and high local reach, continues to stand as a trusted source for accurate and credible information that keeps people connected across the nation."

Moreover, the research emphasized the program's unifying influence. Mann Ki Baat has provided a platform for citizens from diverse backgrounds and regions to voice their aspirations and dreams. It has fostered a sense of unity and national spirit, transcending the geographical and cultural diversity of India.

As Mann Ki Baat continues to inspire and engage millions of listeners across the nation, this study serves as a testament to the enduring power of radio in the digital age and the role it plays in fostering a collective spirit among India's citizens.

Prime Minister Modi's commitment to Mann Ki Baat has not only made it a cherished tradition but also a symbol of hope, unity, and celebration of India's collective journey.
