MIB Constitutes High-Level Panel To Review Diljit Dosanjh-Starrer Satluj

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has constituted a high-level Inter-Departmental Committee (IDC) to examine the content of Satluj, the recently released film starring Diljit Dosanjh, according to media reports.

The committee has reportedly been tasked with reviewing the film and will submit its recommendations to the Central government after assessing its content. The move comes shortly after the film’s brief availability on an OTT platform.

Originally titled Punjab 95, Satluj is based on the life of late Punjab human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who documented alleged cases of extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances in Punjab during the 1990s. Diljit Dosanjh portrays the lead role in the film.

The film premiered on an OTT platform last week under its new title after undergoing a name change from Punjab 95. However, it was removed from the streaming service shortly after its release, prompting widespread discussion within the entertainment industry.

With the formation of the Inter-Departmental Committee, the government will now evaluate the film’s content and determine whether any further action or recommendations are required. No official statement has yet been issued by the Ministry regarding the committee’s findings or the timeline for its review.
