Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani is marking Jio Platforms’ record-breaking stock market debut with large-scale celebrations featuring DJs, drone displays and live music performances.
The celebrations follow Jio Platforms’ $3.2 billion initial public offering (IPO), India’s largest ever, which drew record investor demand. The company’s shares surged 21% on their market debut on October 28, taking its valuation to approximately $131.5 billion.
Festivities began earlier in the week at Reliance Corporate Park near Mumbai, where employees shared glimpses of gatherings featuring Indian street food stalls, dance performances and musical sessions blending devotional sounds with contemporary rhythms.
The celebrations are set to continue with a grand event featuring DJ performances, a drone show and jam sessions with popular Indian singers, according to an internal invitation cited by Reuters. The event is planned near a helipad, adding to the scale of the occasion.
Videos circulating on social media showed employees dancing to live music, with one clip capturing performers on a brightly lit stage as flower petals and confetti fell over the crowd.
The festivities reflect the Ambani family’s well-known penchant for elaborate celebrations, previously seen at high-profile family weddings. However, the scale of the IPO event stands out in a corporate setting, where market listings are typically marked by more restrained gatherings.
An employee described the atmosphere at the campus as “Diwali before Diwali”, highlighting the festive mood surrounding the company’s market debut.
Jio’s listing marks a major milestone for Reliance, with the company’s successful debut drawing attention not only to its financial performance but also to the celebrations surrounding one of India’s biggest market events.
