'I Sing for You With All My Heart’: Shilpa Rao Shares Video After Mic Incident

Singer Shilpa Rao has shared a video of her performance of Khuda Jaane following the controversy surrounding her interrupted set at the Bollywood Music Project in Mumbai.

Posting the video on Instagram on October 28, Rao wrote, “I sing for you with all my heart...and that's all that matters.” The clip shows the audience singing along as she performs the song from the 2008 film Bachna Ae Haseeno.

The post comes days after Rao’s performance at the festival’s 10th-anniversary edition on October 24 was cut short amid microphone issues and scheduling delays. Her microphone reportedly stopped working during the set, and she was unable to properly conclude her performance or bid farewell to the audience.

The incident drew criticism from fans, with several expressing disappointment over the handling of the singer’s set. Rao had earlier shared an emotional message, writing, “Mumbai, a little piece of my heart broke tonight,” while thanking the audience for their support.

The Bollywood Music Project organisers later apologised, attributing the disruption to scheduling delays and venue curfew restrictions. The incident has since sparked wider discussion about event management and the treatment of performers at live music festivals.
