Music industry executive Shilpa Sharda has joined Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios as Head of Music, marking a key leadership move in India's streaming and entertainment landscape.

Sharda announced the appointment through a social media post, confirming that she will lead music strategy for Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios in India.

Prior to joining Prime Video, Sharda spent nearly a decade at Believe India, where she held leadership roles across artist development, marketing, and label partnerships, most recently serving as Director – Artist Services. During her tenure, she worked closely with independent artists, labels, and strategic partners, contributing to the growth of India's independent music ecosystem.

In her new role, Sharda will oversee the music strategy across Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios' Indian content slate, spanning original films, series, soundtracks, music partnerships, and music-led storytelling initiatives.

Her appointment comes as streaming platforms continue to place greater emphasis on music as a core component of original programming. From original soundtracks and artist collaborations to promotional campaigns, music has become an increasingly important driver of audience engagement and cultural impact.

With extensive experience in artist services, music marketing, digital strategy, and partnerships, Sharda has built a strong reputation for working with artists and creators while helping scale independent music businesses.

Her transition also reflects the growing convergence between the music and streaming industries, with entertainment platforms increasingly investing in dedicated music leadership to strengthen their original content offerings.

As Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios continue to expand their slate of Indian originals alongside global content, Sharda's appointment is expected to further strengthen the company's music strategy and deepen its focus on music-driven storytelling and audience engagement.
