A.R. Rahman Launches ARR Immersive App For Apple Vision Pro With Spatial Storytelling And Exclusive Content

Academy Award and Grammy-winning composer, producer and storyteller A.R. Rahman is set to launch the ARR Immersive App on Apple Vision Pro, introducing a new visionOS experience that combines immersive storytelling, music and spatial computing. The app will be available on the Apple App Store for Apple Vision Pro from July 22.

Designed exclusively for Apple's spatial computing platform, the app debuts with a slate of original content created specifically for Vision Pro users. Among the launch highlights are three immersive Kathak dance performances that blend Indian classical dance with iconic Western classical compositions, including Clair de Lune, Rachmaninoff, and Für Elise. The performances feature dancers Pranith AP, Palak Chauhan, and Mudra IV, with choreography by acclaimed Kathak artist Shrita Baskar.

The app also includes exclusive immersive content from Le Musk, Rahman's award-winning 360° virtual reality film that premiered at the Cannes XR Festival. The experience has been specially re-edited for Apple Vision Pro's centered viewing format.

To enhance the experience, Rahman's team has created new spatial audio mixes using Apple Spatial Audio Format (ASAF), Apple's proprietary audio technology for Vision Pro, enabling three-dimensional, lifelike sound.

In addition to immersive films and performances, the app features ARR Live, a dedicated section showcasing Rahman's concerts and recorded live performances. The composer also revealed that additional immersive content is currently in production and will be added through future updates.

Reflecting on the project, Rahman said, "My journey with immersive storytelling began over a decade ago with Le Musk, exploring new languages of story through 3D, 360° VR, spatial experiences and scent. The ARR Immersive App was born from a desire to go further, where technology doesn't replace emotion, but deepens it."

The ARR Immersive App launches first on Apple Vision Pro on July 22, with a version for Meta Quest expected to follow soon.
