Amaal Mallik Accuses Tanishk Bagchi Of Copying Songs, Taking Credit And Mistreating Female Singers

Music composer and singer Amaal Mallik has sparked fresh controversy in the Indian music industry after launching a scathing attack on fellow composer Tanishk Bagchi, accusing him of copying songs, taking credit for others' work and engaging in unethical professional conduct. The allegations come days after Bagchi made headlines over his comments on royalties for the title track of Saiyaara.

In a strongly worded post on X (formerly Twitter), Mallik referred to Bagchi as "Mr Remix & Destroyer of Originals" without naming him directly, before accusing him of repeatedly using other composers' work while presenting it as his own. He also alleged that Bagchi had taken credit for songs created by fellow musicians and questioned his stance on music royalties.

Mallik further claimed that Bagchi had built a public image through paid promotions while failing to acknowledge the contributions of original creators. He also made serious allegations regarding the alleged mistreatment of female singers, warning that more claims could emerge if the matter escalates. However, he did not provide evidence to substantiate these accusations in his post.

The remarks have intensified the ongoing debate surrounding originality, music credits and royalty distribution in Bollywood. Earlier this week, Mallik had also weighed in on Bagchi's royalty claims for Saiyaara, saying that he typically earns a fixed fee of Rs 75,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh per song despite years in the industry. He credited veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar for championing composers' rights long before the current conversation gained momentum.

At the time of writing, Tanishk Bagchi has not publicly responded to Mallik's latest allegations.
