New Single ‘KARMA’ Announces The Arrival Of PAV4N

After 17 years with hip-hop and dubstep group, Foreign Beggars – that disbanded in December 2019 – former frontman launches a new solo project, PAV4N

March 2020 – 2019 saw one of the prolific hip-hop outfits of the last two decades Foreign Beggars call quits. In 2020, its former co-founder reincarnated himself as PAV4N (to be read as Pavan) and will release his first single, ‘KARMA’ on March 6.  Envisioned as a living art piece, PAV4N is rooted in Indian mythology. Inspired by the aesthetics of blue-skinned Hindu deities – like Krishna, Kali and Shiva – PAV4N also seeks to employ the wider themes and concepts that surround these legends in the stories he tells through his music and visuals. “The colour blue is associated with ‘all-inclusiveness’, the vastness of the sky, ocean, power, time and space and is in my eyes symbolic of our oneness with the universe,” PAV4N explains. Having built a body of work that includes collaborations with the who’s who of the international music industry, hits in the UK Top 10 and appearances at every major festival around the world, PAV4N’s credentials as a rapper are well established.  PAV4N brings all that experience and charisma together in a markedly different and creatively gratifying avatar that ties his cultural roots with his love for hip-hop.  “As PAV4N, the fact that I can really explore my history and heritage through artistic expression – beyond just the music – has given so much more dimension to how I can express my message and opened so many new doors to collaboration, whether through visuals, fashion and art,” PAV4N says, adding, “Every single detail – from a photograph to a lyric to a location choice – has context and gives me a lot of pride to align and celebrate my ancestry.” ‘KARMA’ The first of many releases slated for this year, ‘KARMA’ will release on March 6, 2020.  Setting the tone for what to expect from PAV4N, ‘KARMA’ boasts of hard-hitting bars which are both conscious and subversive, some knocking 808s, coupled with intriguing Indian vocal samples and comes equipped with a stunning music video shot in Vrindavan, Mathura, Shergarh and New Delhi. The track has been produced by contemporary, up and coming producer from Leicester, 2NV. “The song is about self-empowerment and understanding that everyone needs to be the change they wish to see,” says PAV4N. “One of the most important aspects of being an MC is authenticity and expressing your truths and perspective, and the lyrics of this song are an opportunity to really share my perspective without having to water anything down for anyone,” he adds.  [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BlMVDZHDS4[/embedyt] ‘KARMA’ references the evils of late-stage capitalism – a catchall phrase for the indignities and absurdities of the contemporary economy, with its yawning inequality and super-powered corporations and shrinking middle class.   “With all the information we have we could fix many, many problems, however, there are too many people with power who would gladly watch it burn to turn a profit,” PAV4N rues.  The video for ‘KARMA’ – directed by Bombay Arthouse – will also release on March 6.  2020 will see more releases by PAV4N as well as a series of theatrical live shows with launch events in India, UAE, UK and US, complete with bespoke visuals and motion graphics.
