Chapchar Kut Festival: Mizoram Celebrates Mizo Culture with Dance, Music And Cuisine

Mizoram’s vibrant spring festival, Chapchar Kut, once again brought the state alive with a colourful display of traditional dances, music, art, and cuisine, celebrating the essence of Mizo culture.

Observed annually in March, Chapchar Kut marks the completion of the arduous jungle-clearing process for jhum cultivation, a traditional farming practice in the region. It is widely regarded as the biggest and most significant festival of the Mizo people, symbolising joy, community bonding, and the arrival of spring.

The festival featured a wide array of cultural performances, with traditional dances like the iconic bamboo dance, Cheraw, taking centre stage.
