Renowned Indian classical flautists Suchismita and Debopriya Chatterjee performed at the Ramakrishna Mission International Centre (RMIC) in New Delhi as part of the celebrations marking Swami Vivekananda’s 163rd birth anniversary. The event, held on January 12, brought together music and spirituality to pay tribute to one of India’s most influential spiritual leaders.
The sisters, popularly known as the “Flute Sisters”, are acclaimed for their jugalbandi (duet) performances in Hindustani classical music and have built a reputation for bringing depth and harmony to the bansuri tradition. Their appearance at the RMIC was part of a larger programme commemorating Vivekananda’s teachings and legacy, which included cultural and devotional segments to mark National Youth Day.
Both artists are graduates of prestigious music training programmes, having studied under eminent gurus and performed across India and internationally. Through their music, the Chatterjee sisters continue to carry forward the rich heritage of Indian classical music while celebrating themes of devotion and introspection aligned with Vivekananda’s philosophy.
