Candlelight Concerts Arrive In Delhi With Shows At Safdarjung Tomb, Purana Qila

Live Your City - Candlelight has expanded its signature open-air concert experience to Delhi, hosting immersive performances at two of the capital’s most iconic heritage sites,Safdarjung Tomb and Purana Qila. The back-to-back events mark a growing shift in how historic monuments across India are being reimagined as dynamic cultural venues.

Globally recognised for staging intimate live performances illuminated by thousands of candles, the Candlelight series brought a unique sensory experience to spaces steeped in history. In Delhi, the centuries-old architecture of these monuments added a distinct depth to the musical performances, blending heritage with contemporary cultural engagement.

Speaking on the initiative, Pranjal Begwani, Team Lead – India & Thailand at Fever, said the intent was to create a dialogue between music and history. “Delhi’s monuments are not just relics of the past, they continue to resonate with the present. With Candlelight Concerts at Safdarjung Tomb and Purana Qila, we wanted to go beyond aesthetics and create an experience rooted in emotion and legacy,” he said, adding that the sold-out shows reaffirmed the demand for such immersive formats.

Both evenings were curated around Sufi music, with Mehfil-e-Sufi forming the thematic core. Known for its spiritual and emotive depth, the genre complemented the historical weight of the venues. The series made its open-air debut in Delhi on February 28 at Safdarjung Tomb, where classical devotional melodies echoed through its 18th-century Mughal architecture and expansive gardens. This was followed by a March 14 showcase at Purana Qila, where the 16th-century fort’s dramatic setting provided a fitting backdrop for an evening centred on love, longing, and spiritual connection.

Both events were sold out, highlighting a growing appetite among Delhi audiences for experiential formats that transcend conventional concert settings. Attendees described the performances as deeply moving, underscoring the impact of pairing timeless music with culturally significant spaces.

As Candlelight continues its expansion across India, its Delhi chapter stands out as a compelling example of how heritage sites can be activated in meaningful ways, bridging the past and present while offering audiences a more immersive cultural experience.
